6 Months!

How crazy is that!?

6 months of marriage has flown by and it has been incredible! I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband!

To celebrate 6 months married&Christmas...we bought a wii!

Look at that sexy black Wii!
Of course...pink controller for me!

We kind of celebrated on the Saturday when we bought the Wii, then we went to the mall, then I helped Travis study for a test and then we went back to the mall and saw the new movie Immortals. I loved it! It was very gory, and I don't think I would recommend it to many people...Anyways! For Sunday dinner, I decided I would try out a pinterest recipe...which turned out super good!!

Crockpot Hawaiian chicken:

-Spray crockpot with PAM for easy clean up
-Throw in a couple of FROZEN chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
-Throw in a can of drained pineapple
-1/4 cup of soy sauce
-1tsp brown sugar
-I poured Sweet chili sauce over the whole thing and sprinkled some red pepper flakes for a kick!
-Cook on low for 5 hours, serve over rice
-*I shredded my chicken just before serving by throwing it in my kitchen aid and mixing it up! Worked like a charm!

Love crockpot meals on sunday! Then the apartment smells SO yummy after church!

Its not a celebration without sparkling juice and candles!

I even managed to get our Christmas cards all ready! Pictures just needed to be printed off and put in the envelopes! If you are lucky enough...you might even get one! Here is the preview!

Reunited!

Here is the story...

A few weeks after I started work, I started getting a rash from my wedding rings. I thought this was pretty weird so I started doing some research and thought maybe some moisture got trapped under my rings and caused a rash. Then I was thinking maybe since now I'm working and washing my hands a million times a day, I had just simply dried out my hands and putting on my rings after work caused the rash.

Since there is not a store where Travis got my ring in Medicine Hat, we took it in to Lethbridge to see what they could do.

Apparently when you get a ring, it is supposed to be coated with something...anyways, mine wasn't and combined with dry hands and a slight allergic reaction (My sister has always reacted to silver and gold...so I guess I must be a little allergic too!) my rings needed to be sent off.

Not wearing my wedding rings for 2 weeks was an interesting experience. First off, it made me sad, because I love my rings! Secondly I felt like a heathen. Every time Travis and I went out to dinner or to the movies, people would look at his wedding ring...and then notice I didn't have one on.

Anyways! I got my rings back and they have never been shinier! I am so glad I no longer have to fear those looks anymore!!

Yay December!

The reason I say YAY about December is because I have so many things to be excited for! This month is going to be insane! Here are the reasons why (in order)

#1. My birthday is on the 16th! I am so excited to turn 19! (Not that anything is really too exciting about getting old!)

#2. Travis's younger brother, Jesse will return from his mission on the 20th! I have never met Jesse, as he has been in Australia for the past 2 years! Should be interesting!

#3. Christmas parties. Enough said.

#4. Trip to Fairmont with the Johnsons. I'm sure my husband will try to get me to snowboard the whole time...but I am sure the whole family shall have a splendid time together!

#5. CHRISTMAS! First christmas married! Should be interesting going back and forth between family events!

#6. Boxing day shopping!

#7. Trip with the Binnings! Heading down to San Diego for my cousin's wedding, Seaworld and a CRUISE! I am so excited to get my tan on! Plus cruises are the BEST. This will Travis's first cruise...he has no idea how awesome it is going to be!!

After all of that excitement...it'll be back to Medicine Hat to work!
Work has been great for me so far! It's nice having something productive to keep me busy! It also helps I work with great ladies!

Bring on the holidays! I have all my gifts wrapped and ready! (Well...except for Travis. But finding him a gift is too stressful, so I told him I'm not getting him anything! We don't really need anything anyways! So hopefully we find something great to buy on boxing day or in the states!) I also have all my christmas cards written out and ready to roll....just waiting to add a picture!

Thank you Pinterest!

Pinterest is so magical. I could literally spend forever pinning things I wish I had and things I want to do/make.

Addiction?

Anyways, I know people just pin and never do anything more...But I love to try and actually DO the things that I pin!

For example, the other day I made caramel. Delicious caramel from Eagle brand milk...without even opening the can!
Step 1: Remove all the labels from the can
Step 2: Fill the crockpot with water, enough so the can is completely submerged.
Step 3: Submerge the can, and cook on low for 8 hours.
BAM
Step 4: let can cool and open.
MAGIC

What is one to do with a bowl of caramel...

Another Pinterest find...Turtle cupcakes!!

Alright, so they don't look the prettiest, but they are the most chocolaty and moist things ever!
They are SUPER easy.
All you need is:
1 box of devil's food cake
1 box of instant chocolate pudding
3 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 1/4 cups water
chopped almonds
caramel

All I had to do was combine the pudding and cake powder and the eggs/oil&water and pour into cupcake liners. Then sprinkle chopped almonds on top and cook for 18 minutes @375 Once they were cool, I used this syringe type thing.
(I bought this at the dollar store...it certainly doesn't work very good, but it serves its purpose for the most part!)

So now there is caramel in the middle of the cupcakes and on top!

SO easy.

SO yummy!

April 6.

Lets be honest.
I am SO excited for Breaking Dawn Part1.
I am SO excited for The Hunger games.

But you want to know what I am more excited for?

TITANIC!

2012 is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and so they are re-releasing Titanic in 3D on April 6th! Ignore the subtitles!

This might even be better than Christmas for me.

Our Beginning

You might not know it, but one simple action can change everything!
How do you think us two goons got together in the first place! Well,
let me fill you in on how it all began....

Once upon a time it was WOW week for institute 2010 and one of the nights, it was super cold and rainy, there was a slip-and-slide activity at the sugar bowl. I was not too impress because it was FREEZING and I wanted nothing of this activity. So I suggested a bunch of people come over to my parents place after for hot chocolate! So I went home, made a huge pot of hot chocolate and people started to come over, my usual friends and some friends of friends...the usual thing that happens. Anyways, a friend had brought over this new boy (Travis). I thought "loud, annoying, fresh from the mission and on the prowl for a wife. no thanks".
At a YSA dance.
Anyways, the night ended and soon after, the friend and Travis started dating and I never thought much about him.
I then enrolled in an institute class, and this boy Travis was in it, but we never sat together and hardly said more than 10 words to each other for most of the semester. Then all of the sudden he was in my ward, so I started seeing him Sunday at church, Monday at FHE, tuesday&thursday at institute, friday usually at a dance, and saturday when a bunch of people would hang out. So I saw him everywhere it seemed like, and I didnt think he was that annoying anymore, just a cool guy friend.
At the time all of this was happening, I was still sort of involved with this other guy, and it was just a complicated thing, that had gone on a very long time and seemed to only get more complicated everyday.
PREFERENCE. One word that every YSA girl loves or hates. A fancy dance where the girl chooses her date. I was at a loss, I really didn't know who to ask because I simply wanted a no-drama night! I started thinking of the guys in my ward and institute class and boom...Travis was in both. Why not ask him? Him and his girlfriend had broken up almost a month earlier, so I guess he was single and nice....good enough for me! However, in talks with other YSA girls I discovered that someone else was planning to ask Travis the next day, so if I didnt act now, I would be hooped for a date.
So, I got a big bag of popcorn, made a puzzle and threw it in the bag, and dropped it on his doorstep and waited.
And then waited some more.
Awkwardly enough I saw him the next day, and he didnt say anything about preference...hmm
Until I got a stack of 193 papers with one saying "if there is 193 papers in this pile, then the answer is yes."
The preference gang.
Travis and I had such a blast at preference! Even though my ex was there and I felt a little awkward, it was still super fun and he was super sweet.
Travis married such a dork.
After that we started going to movies, talking more at institute and hanging out at the college library. It was all so light and fun, and it was exactly what I needed! Travis kept asking me if we were dating yet and I kept putting it off...till finally I agreed! It was certainly a day to remember when we first started dating let me tell you! That night, we had plans to go to a movie, but instead I was put through one last dramatic night with my ex. I was so thankful that Travis was there for me, and even though I cried like a baby that night, he stood by my side and comforted me. How could this guy I have so much fun with, and is so sweet and I don't know all that well comfort me when I need it the most. Obviously then I knew there was something special about him.
The rest is basically history!!
My first attempt snowboarding...
We talked a lot about marriage before we got engaged. We even went ring shopping a few times and it all just felt so surreal. I couldnt believe this was all happening to me! What had I done to deserve this!? Even though once I read Travis's phone and found out the day he was going to propose so then he had to change the date...
Anyways!
The day we got engaged:
It was Feb.4, 2011. A friday night, and I was doing a late shift for my practicum at the hospital and Travis, like always came and picked me up. This time he had a bouquet of duct tape roses, so sweet! Once we got to his car, he had hot chocolate and timbits and he suggested we go to a park. (I wasn't think too much of it, as he is always great like this) We pulled up to Turtle Hill (by lakeview school) and went to the slide on the top of the hill, spread out a blanket and began to drink our hot chocolate. My phone then vibrated with a text, so I turned to get it and check it from my hoodie pocket. As I was reading the text, Travis called my name, and when I turned to look, he was on one knee, holding a ring box and simply said, "will you marry me?"
At my 18th bday dinner with my fam.
I was like YES YES YES YES YES!!! And fell into his arms and we were both shaking and tearing up! He surprised me! (which is hard to do because I do not like them!) We then proceed to go find my parents (who were at the thomsens playing cards, and I think they knew as soon as we told them we needed to come see them right away! (Travis had asked their permission days before, so they knew it was coming.)
Then we told/called/texted whoever needed to know that night! Everyone was so excited, but not nearly as excited and happy as we were. We then celebrated with some friends who were at my parents house at the time with waffles and ice cream...at midnight.

On the truck, on the farm, being hick.
Four months later we were married in the Cardston Temple and it was the best day of our lives, it was so perfect and everything went so smoothly. I'm so lucky to now be Mrs. Macaul Johnson :)

Wedding pictures hung...finally!

We have been married for over 5 months, so we thought it was now an appropriate time to hang up some wedding pictures.

We got a few frames for the wedding, and I bought some with the many gift cards I received from the wedding.

Then we had to get the pictures actually printed. Costco has always been really good for cheap, fast, good quality pictures. Fortunately they had a sale! Plus if you signed up for an account you got 60 free prints!
Score!
Then, thanks to some miscalculating on Costco's part, I got a little over 300 pictures for only $15. It must have been my lucky day!!

Then my darling handyman of a husband agreed to hang up all the pictures!

This is my Pier 1 photo wall. All these frames I bought thanks to some gift cards!

I was happy to take out the random pictures that come in frames!

More photos!

Now be aware that my photography skills lack greatly and they look better/not crooked in real life!

Friday night blogging.

I feel like I never have a point when I blog. Then I think of things and then the post becomes a disaster. So I apologize.

A few weekends ago, my husband and I took a trip down to The Post. (only the best thrift store ever) And I found this baby. But, I thought it needed a little something, so this was my attempt at making it look cute. Its to hold all our important papers and mail...yeah right haha. It will probably just get filled with junk!
I stole that cute flower off of a card my gma made...I don't think
I could make something that cute!!

Then I made these delicious chocolate dipped chocolate chip cook dough! It was pretty easy to make, and there are no eggs in the recepe, so this is cookie dough that you can actually eat and not feel too bad about! I found the recipe off of pinterest. Of course.

deeeelicious!

Thankfully, I have a job. I am a surgical processor. I went to school, took some courses, did a practicum, and now I am certified. If you don't know what that is...in a nutshell we take care of a butload of stuff people don't even think of. We order supplies, distribute supplies to all of the hospital and surrounding areas, we get to clean up the bloody instruments after surgeries, we make sure all the right instruments are in the right sets for the right surgery, we make up the carts that have all of the supplies for each surgery, we package and sterilize and do about 10 million other things. Probably one of the most underrated workers I have learned. I love what I do, because I feel like I'm helping but I don't have to deal with irritable patients! It sounds like a crap job, but its great! Travis doesn't have a job at the moment, so this is our only income! Although I make pretty good money considering I sat at home taking some online courses last year. Anyways, this is a picture of some instruments they sent me home with on my first day so I could memorize the order they go in on the stringer. I threatened my husband that I would play doctor on him!

I made these ugly cheescakes. SO GOOD.

Trying to take a picture....we are still as awkward as ever.
Why?!

This post was ALL over the place. I really do apologize. One day I'll clean it up.

More glasses!

Some people love heels. Some people like bags. I love glasses. I have worn glasses since like the 3rd grade and I love them. Tried contacts for a year, but they just weren't my thing! I now have 8 pairs of glasses to my current prescription. I do not wear them all, but I love to change it up! ps...I order them online! That is my secret! They are WAY cheaper on the internet! Here they are! Sorry for the crap web cam pics!
New black(ish) pair! I had a pair like these, only a larger frame!
However, an arm snapped off! So I ordered the same frame, in
black/white tortoise pattern and smaller lenses to fit my face better!

I've always wanted white glasses! These even have red swirls
on the sides!

Yay yellow!
At least I'm not a crazy cat lady! right? right??

Bored Sundays!

Being in a new city, in a tiny apartment and not knowing anyone has made for some pretty boring times..especially sundays.

Yesterday we managed to kill some time by going to the thrift store where I bought a sweeet letter holder for mail/papers etc and the best iron on decal ever. I can't even tell you how excited I am for this.

Also found this beauty. I almost vomited.

We have also come to the conclusion that our new ward thinks we are inactive. Between moving, general conference, thanksgiving and visiting home, we have been to our new ward very little. The missionaries even called us at 10pm one night to set up a lesson for later on in the week! Anyways, we figured we were about due for a calling (especially if they think we are inactive...we are not!!) So when we walked into church today, a member of the bishopric told us that he would like to meet with us after the meeting. We were again hoping for nursery  primary or young men/young womens! No such luck. Turns out the calling was just for me! Not Travis...lucky man! I am now the new ward organist. I think this ward is about to quickly learn how badly this 18 year old can play the organ! But I know the more I do it, the better I will get. So this will be interesting! I should have lied when the first question the bishop asked me when we moved into the ward was "do you happen to play the organ?" I should have known that by saying yes, I was actually volunteering! I will keep you posted on all my organ-lady duties and mishaps.

Other than that...hmm
I have been working full time for the past 2 weeks training at the hospital here! I know, I know. My job sounds disgusting! It totally is, but I totally love it. There aren't very many people willing to scrub bone chunks, greasy fat, blood and other substances out of surgical tools...but I am weird and I love it! It isnt all gross though! I get to wrap all the instruments and make sure everything gets sterilized and labelled properly so that when you go in for a knee surgery, the surgeon isn't opening a rhinoplasty set! I also love all I am learning. I know the names and functions of hundreds of surgical tools! I feel pretty smart being able to know the difference between my kockers, kelleys and criles!

Side note...look at my Cuuuute husband as a child!!

Thats about it! Here are some random shots of us being bored and goofy!
This shot is old. sooo hipster haha

He concerns me!

Super impressed!

Travis does not like pictures!

Yay! Wedding pictures!

I have been waiting and nagging and waiting and nagging for the past 4 months for my wedding pictures! They are finally here! (I know, I know. My photographer was busy with other things. Like having a super cute baby girl.) Anyways! Here are a couple of my favorite shots!

First photo as husband and wife! Such a cool moment!

So...the night before the wedding I realized I forgot to get my nails done! So theses
are stick on's from walmart! Worked out pretty good!

My eyes look crazy green here!

Fact: My flowers were from michaels...and my mom arranged it!
Turned out awesome and I wasn't left with a bunch of dead
flowers! In fact...they still look pretty good!

Love this!

I love every part of the Temple!
It was SO hot that day! But we still managed to have a little fun!

A random man kept walking in and out of that door...probably
thought we were nuts!

I really like this one!

Took lots of good pictures around Cardston!

This was not posed! All of us in the limo Texting/Tweeting/Facebooking!
I'll have to admit, I changed my name and relationship status as soon as I
got my phone! Some might say pathetic...but I was proud!!

I am really surprised this is the only pic with Travis doing this face. He ALWAYS
make this face!

Look how gorgeous it was that day!

Who doesn't love kissy pictures!

This is the "mermaid" picture

The limo dropped us off at the reception moments before it
started! I changed from contacts to glasses on the ride over!
My eyes were driving me crazy because I never wear
my contacts! I am sooo a glasses girl!!

The reception was exactly how I had always pictured it.

SO beautiful. My mom made this! The bottom 3 layers
are FAKE! I also love the table skirt. LOVE!!

Cake eating/smashing in each others faces!

Pink cake?! Of course!

Off to start our new adventure!

It does not seem like we were married all the way back in June! It was such a perfect day and I am so greatful for every moment of that day! All the craziness was worth it! And the best part? Getting sealed to my husband for all eternity! None of this "till death do us part" stuff. This is forever, and its a big deal! I am so lucky I found someone like Travis! No one will ever know how amazing he is! And he is all mine! :)
Sorry about the mushy bits! What can I say...I'm a romantic!

Thanks Nikki for the pictures!
