"Staycation" & big purchases!

This past week, Travis and I got to house sit for my parents while they were in Vegas! It was SO great to have a week to relax and do nothing! (Plus the week off work was especially nice!!) We were so grateful to spend so much time with our friends in Lethbridge...and we wish we could hang out all the time!!

Travis spent most of the week laying low, playing xbox and looking at cars. (More on that in a minute)
I spent the week watching movies (including a girls night watching "Cabin in the Woods"! And going to Titanic in 3D for my third time!!), being dragged around to look at cars, getting my hair done and dragging my husband out to take some 1-year anniversary pictures! (Can you believe we have almost been married a year?!)
We also spent lots of time with friends and lots of time babysitting my cousins, and our nieces and nephews!

Travis and I decided the time had come when we should start looking at buying a car. I came into the marriage with a 2005 Honda Civic which ran fantastically, however only was a 2 door car. We know eventually we are going to have kids, and that squishy ride would just not cut it! (Funny story-When we were showing our new car to Travis's Dad...he automatically checked the backseat and said "Just checking to see if there was a car seat back there") Travis had a really old VW Golf (that I was afraid to drive, in fear of it falling apart) that he recently sold to a friend for practically nothing! We figured now was the time to get a car, because we aren't weighed down with house payments, our rent is cheap and I'm working lots...why not now? (plus we had some friends get pregnant and it wasnt exactly planned...so I think that freaked us out a little and made us realize we need to be prepared for whatever may come our way!!)
Thanks to a really good deal and a delightful tax return, this is our new car!

It is a 2010 Ford Focus, with hardly any KM's, leather seats, sun roof...fully loaded! (including a lot of unnecessary features that are pretty sweet!) We are in love! It is very fancy and we hope to have it 100% payed off by the end of the summer! I am SO glad we don't have to look at cars again for a looong time!!

Take a look at our latest addition to our apartment....

Words cannot describe my excitement for this little deep freeze! For so long we have had to squish a very tiny amount of food in a very tiny freezer on our very tiny fridge! Now we can actually buy Costco-sized quantities of food and not have to worry about where to put it! I am also excited because this means less trips to the grocery store because we have a stocked freezer! Travis is happy because we now have the space for a whole lot of ice cream!!

I think that is all for now...stay tuned for some pictures from our 1-year photoshoot!

P.S. In the spirit of everyone asking us when we are going to have kids, here is a little something I came across whilst reading a magazine:

I think that sums it up!

Cruise & Cali!

This one time we were SO lucky and able to join my family on a trip to San Diego for a wedding and then a cruise down to Cabo! We had SUCH a fun time and I was very sad to come home! Here are some fun pictures&stories from the trip!
Who would have thought the Long Beach airport is a trailer.
Oh wait...2 trailers and a mile long walk from the plane!

Great Falls! (did a little shopping...haha)

Seaworld!! Shamu!! Notice how we look like wet rats. That's because we sat near the front and got SOAKED. It was totally
worth freezing for!

Brooke and her camera skills!! Ps, whales are my favorite!

Travis was pretty excited about seeing sharks at Seaworld!
The Texas rental car? In California? At least it didn't smell like bublegum, like  a rental van we had in Vegas one time!

The San Diego Temple!

Look at how perfect this temple is!  It was even more beautiful inside! There was this incredible garden on the top floor that was enclosed in glass, but it was open to the sky...so if it rained outside, it would rain into that garden! It was SO cool! You could also look straight up and see the golden Angel Moroni...way cool!

It was so beautiful!!

Here comes the new Mr. & Mrs. Binning!

They had a big wedding party!

This is Kassy's little brother, Sam. At the family dinner the previous night, everyone had to stand up and introduce themselves. If any of you know my grandpa Bill, he simply stood up and said "I'm Santa Clause" and sat down. Well Sam, (being only 5 or 6) was so amazed that Santa was there! He ran right up to him and gave him a hug! Then my grandpa gave him a toonie or a loonie..not sure, and told him it was north pole money. I am pretty sure that was the cutest thing I have ever seen. This little boy legitimately believed Santa was at the wedding and kept saying "hi santa". SO cute!

Between the Ceremony and the reception, we went to In-N-Out! Yumm!

So pretty and delicious!

So I guess we weren't allowed to be married at the wedding!

Fun at the Wedding!

The groom and  his sister!

Such a beautiful wedding!!
Oh hey leftover wedding cake...shh!!

On the ship! Shorts in January!!

Cabo!

This is apparently a mexican "glass bottom boat" Yikes!

Pinterest idea FAIL

Beach!

Such a stud.

Mexican chickens...or pelicans! Travis and I went snorkeling in this area! It was amazing!!

Did I mention as we were pulling into port we saw TONS of whales and dolphins swimming and jumping around in the ocean!? It was so magical!!

So many Sea lions!!

ahhh...paradise!

I love that we can be goofs together! We we we so excited!!

Sorry for the ridiculous amount of pictures in this post. I considered making 2 separate posts...but that didn't happen! I figured pictures would be better than a bunch of rambling! If you want to see more pictures from the trip, check out my Facebook page! I'll leave you with this beauty, that was on the inside of an elevator in our hotel in Carlsbad California! Until next time! xox!

Fairmont with the Johnsons!

The week before Christmas, we were fortunate enough to go spend time up in Fairmont with the Johnson clan! We had such a blast with everyone! It was extra special because we were able to drive to Calgary on of the days to pick up Jesse from his mission! I had never met Jesse (as he was in Australia for the past 2 years) and I have never picked up a missionary at the airport! Such a cool time! We are so lucky to have 2 adorable nieces and 2 adorable nephews! Since there was not really tons of snow...some of the boys only went snowboarding one of the days, but fortunatly there was a sweet recreation center where we could swim, hot tub, play racquetball and do tons of other things at! Once Jesse was released, we forced him to watch some of our favorite movies he had missed while being a missionary. So basically we had a whole week to relax with family, eat good food and play lots of games! I am so lucky I married into such a fun family!!

Here are some pictures from the trip:

Uncle Travis with Hallie!

He is convinced he is super-uncle!

SUCH a cute kid!

Excited!

Where have the hot springs been my whole life???

Camilla thought it would be a good idea to put pretzels in my shoe.

It was a great time! Did I mention we went to church and I had to fill in for the organist?! Oh the life of a person with musical talent in the church...

Van Orman Family reunion!

Look at my excitement!
This past weekend, we had the opportunity to go up to Waterton Springs Camping ground for a family reunion! (Travis's Mom's side of the family.) Unfortunatly for us, we were told people were going to arrive thursday night...well that was not the case. We didn't find this out until we got there! So I got a whole extra night campin Lucky me! (I do not like camping, just in case you couldn't catch all of my excitement).
It was so super cold at night, super hot during the day (Which was nice!! Got a nice tan!) ate a stew with moose meat in it (which was yummy), saw a SNAKE beside our tent (I FREAKED out!) and then we had some fun exploring around cameron lake...
Catching some rays.
So as soon as Travis's family arrived, we scooted off into waterton because some wanted to hike and wander around or whatever. Well turns out only 2 people went on a hike and then the rest of us went and spent time at cameron lake while we waited for the hikers to be done. We had a lot of fun! However, we decided we had waited long enough for the hikers, so we started going up the trail to find them, when all of the sudden a crazy lady jump out of her car and started yelling at us "We just saw a BEAR from the road!! Its heading your direction!!" Awesome. I wanted to run back down and get in the van and cry, but Travis decided we better go and tell the rest of the gang...awesome. Fortunately I have a very loud husband who yelled the whole way and probably scared away the bear. Then once all the fun was over (and everyone was getting antsy to get the heck home!) We started driving home ,and when we passed waterton? A baby BEAR crossing the road!
At least I've got my once-a-year camping experience over and done with.

Exploring the campground

We did end up having fun, but next time hopefully we will be given more information so we are not so unprepared!!
