Weeks 21-27

Obviously I am getting a little behind on the updates!
These last few weeks have been a blur of working, keeping on top of housework, church, various craft projects, a wedding, getting ready for Christmas (What! Its already November?!) and preparing for baby!

Here are a few updates from life & pregnancy thus far:

-My official position in the OR ended at the end of October, but luckily I will still get a few guaranteed hours in there until I go on maternity leave.

-I was called to teach the 8 year old kids in Primary. I am so excited to be in Primary! I hope my class of all boys will be kind to me! (Funny story about how I found out about my calling...a few weeks ago one of the members of the Primary Presidency called me and said "Welcome to Primary! Can you teach this Sunday?" I had no idea what she was talking about, so I didn't question anything and agreed to teach. Then when a member of the bishopric told me they wanted to extend a calling to me I said "I know, I'll be teaching Primary" the look on their face was priceless!)

-The baby is always moving...and getting stronger. Literally I felt a kick so hard the other night that it woke me up at 4am.

-The baby goes especially crazy when we actually find the time to go to a movie. (At the movie theater is when I first felt the baby kick! I'm taking this as a promising sign that she will be a movie lover like the rest of the Binning family!)

-Travis loves to feel the baby kick and move! Although it is kind of freaky when we can both see my stomach twitching out from the kicking and punching...

-Getting dressed is a chore. I am trying to be that cute pregnant lady...but it is so hard when a lot of clothes just don't seem to fit how I would like them to!

-I get really sad when I drop things, or if my shoe is untied...because that means I have to bend over, which is a chore these days.

-The baby room is about 80%ish done! I keep finding myself wandering in there and wanting this baby to be here! (only 3 more months! Yikes!)

-Travis & I went up to Edmonton so he could write his ACP test for his EMT. The test went well, but it was the longest weekend of my life. I am so grateful for family that let us stay with them! I am also grateful that my husband can change a tire on the side of a busy highway. I am also grateful my husband and I didn't manage to murder one another between our ridiculous car troubles and our 30 hour trip from Edmonton to Medicine Hat. Yikes. Not a fun weekend.

-Still feeling really good. I do get the occasional heartburn...but that's it! Pregnancy is being really kind to me and I am so grateful for that because I know a lot of people have not so fun pregnancies.

Here are some pictures of my ever-growing bump. It seems I forgot week 24....blame it on baby brain. oops.

For some reason I look very uncomfortable here!

This picture is dedicated to Brooke. #23. (J's on my feet)

Love maxi dresses!

Halloween 2013: Milkman & Housewife.

Here are a few sneak peeks of inside the baby room. I promise I will show more when it is all done. For now, this will have to suffice:

That's it for now. Maybe I'll remember to give updates more than once every 6 weeks...but no promises.

Oh my! Its may!

Ryan Gosling understands my career.

Where the heck have the last few months gone? Seriously...wasn't it JUST Christmas?? Obviously we have been very busy, but here are a few updates! (mostly in picture form, because I am in no mood to type)

I have been working a lot (as per usual) and I have just started a temporary full time position in the operating room! (Yikes! How did that happen!)What that means for me is:
-Four, ten hour shifts a week -ordering probably 90% of supplies for the operating room (minus drugs and other random things)
-making sure each surgery has the correct instruments and supplies -running a little sterilizer
-Preparing all the paperwork for the Central Sterilizing department for regularly booked surgeries and emergency added on cases.
-running around for nurses when they can't find a specific instrument
-faking it when people ask me surgical advice (um...hello! I am NOT the Doctor!)
-walking in on Doctors who are sleeping or praying (Awkward!)
I literally do a million things that I could not even begin to list them all...all I know is those 10 hours FLY by and I am always worn out by the time 5pm rolls by!

All gone :(
My parents opened a frozen yogurt shop, Froyo Mill. It is delicious and it is a good thing I don't live close enough to go every day, because I would, and then I would be a million pounds. Speaking of weight...I've lost almost 15 pounds! That's exciting, but I hate talking about my weight, so enough of that nonsense.

We have 2 new super cute niblings! Little Josh and Myla. Super adorable. I love being an aunt!

-I have recently discovered that my mom was super cute when she was little. I cannot get over it. SO CUTE!! Look at them pigtails!!
- My grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary where my sister and I shared a deliciously messy chocolate covered pineapple on a stick. Yum.

mmmm!

-Travis passed all his class this semester with flying colors! Yay! Right now he is in Oyen doing a practicum, leaving me home alone to do some much needed blogging. (and work, and cleaning, and watching the O.C.)

Here are a few of my latest projects:

**Literally this picture frame has been hanging on the wall empty since we moved into this place...every time my home/visiting teachers come over I am always so embarrassed that I have an empty frame hanging...whoops! At least it is filled with something now!!

Thank heavens for crafty friends!
Does this mean I am a crazy bird lady?
A present for a temple sealing.
I made this in 15 minutes in a craft club competition. Obsessed with bunting.
A wedding present.
My front entryway. Obsessing over this birdcage!
Another wedding present :)

As you probably noticed, once I do something, I like to recreate it...because secretly I am not that creative, so when I find something that works, I stick with it. There are also a few decoration things among those pictures...trying to make our place a little more homey!

A few weeks ago I had to say goodbye to my very best friend who has left on a mission to Manchester, England. I am so proud of her and it was so hard to say goodbye, but I know she is will do great and have many wonderful experiences that will change her life!!
ALSO my brother got his mission call...CRAZY! He was called to the Winnipeg mission! I am so excited he is staying in Canada because that means he gets to go right out and serve the people of his own country!! How cool will it be for him to go back and visit his mission with it only being a few hours a way? Mission calls are truly inspired from the lord, and even though Clarke could have been sent anywhere in the world, Canada needed Clarke, because he is such an amazing guy! (Seriously, all the old ladies in his ward want to adopt him!!)
Speaking of church, the wards in Medicine Hat just got rearranged and a new ward was formed. For weeks I feared that all the people we had met and became friends with would be in a different ward then us...and it came true! Looking over our new ward list, we only recognize a few names, but this will give us an opportunity to meet a lot more people...which is exciting/scary! I am crossing my fingers that I will get a new calling! (even though somehow I got roped into playing the organ anyway until things are all sorted out with callings...) Travis got a new calling right away...but you will have to wait to hear about what it is :) Luckily we will still be taking turns with another couple DJ'ing the youth dances...which I absolutely love! The youth are so fun and easy going. (Plus they thing we are pretty cool DJ's!) I just really hope I wasn't that crazy/weird when I went to youth dances...but I know I was!!

I think that's about it for the update...sorry for the random nature of this post!
Sorry for the crappy quality of my pictures, they mostly came from Instagram!

Recent craftiness.

Here are some things I have made in the last little bit...

Excuse my horrendous hand sewing skills. Cute idea??

I am so proud of this cute wreath!

*Found the ideas for these on Pinterest...so I'm not really that creative!

Moved!

Praise the heavens! We are no longer living in our yucky curry-scented apartment building!
For the past five months we have been checking Kijiji every single day hoping to stumble across the perfect place to move.
a. It had to be within our price range
b. It had to be close to the college
c. It had to be bigger than our current place so we wouldn't have to move if kiddos come around in the next few years.
d. We really had our hearts set on staying in the same ward for church.

....This is why it took us SO long to get out of that miserable building!!

Our new duplex is about...50 feet from our old building, just right around the corner! So right there we met part b. and c. of our requirements! The ad said it was 2 bedrooms, but when we took a walk through...there was 3...plus a whole big area in the basement that wasn't even finished yet! I was a little nervous how much it would be, but actually it was in our price range! Our new landlord seems like the nicest guy and he was willing to drop the price for us if we (Travis) did some handy work while living here. All of our requirements were met and we moved! The move went great! We had tons of help and since we don't have kids, we don't have tons of stuff!

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am not to be woken up to the smell of curry at 5am, not to be followed in the hallway by scary asian grandmothers and not have to hear foreign languages being screamed across the halls. I am also pretty happy about all of the space, carport, 2 bathrooms...the list goes on! We really got lucky!

I hesitate to tell this next story because my parents made fun of me for about a week after I told them...but I feel like we can all have a good laugh about it now!!
About 4 days before we moved, I went down my hallway in the apartment building because I needed to check the mail. When I got to the mailboxes there was 4-5 asian people standing around a box in front of the mailboxes...so I kindly made my way through the people and got my mail...when all of the sudden I hear a "cluck-cluck". I'm sure my face was priceless at this moment. So I look down at the box by feet and there are feathers poking out of the box. Yup. Live chickens. GROSS! I was pretty glad at that moment that I only had a few more days left in that miserable place. The worst thing is my landlord would have been to old and senile to even comprehend the whole situation.

Anyways...enough ranting! We are are just super thrilled to be in our new "home"! Here are some pictures! (keep in mind...they aren't the best!!)

Bedroom: Still looking for cute throw pillows (or to make them) and still needing to
hang a couple things on the wall.

Other side of the bedroom: Travis actually ran into that wall yesterday in the middle of the night and broke my J...

Bathroom: Loving the blue toilet and tub...who even!?

Office: Need curtains or blinds (I took these sunday right after church...hence the tie!)

Living room: Kinda squishy! and our fish are in the corner out of the picture...

Christmas Tree!!! Pink pink pink!! (And a christmas J)

Living room wall: My attempt to be artistic and hang an arrangement of frames.

Looking down at the front door. (Ps having a carport is great!!)

Christmas shelf

Craft room: Disaster. Need to organize.

Storage room in basement

More storage and view of unfinished room in the basement

Kitchen table (with freshly baked banana bread...YUM)

Kitchen: SO nice having a full sized fridge.

Kitchen: Disaster. At least Travis was kind enough to do the dishes!! Bonus!
So that is our new little place! A big step up from our dingy apartment!! We are so blessed!
Speaking of blessed...I got a temporary part time position in the Operating room at the hospital!! Yay! (Except waking up before 6am is a real killer!!) Hopefully I don't mess things up too bad in there!

Thanks for creeping on my living space, I'll try to keep you all updated more!

Bits and Pieces

You will notice that when I blog, I usually do two posts in one day. So, here you go:

I always believed that because I live in a ghetto apartment, decorating for holidays were pointless. But then I fell in love with some clearance decorations and put this thinking to an end.

For less than $10 I now have a cute little shelf to decorate on! I can't get over how cute the owl banner is...plus it was only $1 at Superstore. (Now that its November, my Christmas decorations are already up..but you will have to wait and see that!)

I bought this mirror for $5 at the thrift store a while ago and had a really hard time deciding what to do with it. I picked out a million quotes and could not decide on one (And my when I would ask my husband for his opinion he would simply reply with "Whatever makes you happiest dear" A lot of help that is!!) Finally while watching a little bit of Moulin Rouge the other day I decided on "Love is a many splendored thing" Which is a line from a song from Moulin Rouge and the title of a super old movie. And I went with a dark purple because I decided to add a little purple to our bedroom.

It is surprisingly hard to take a picture of a mirror without having awkward glares from
the light. So instead you get awkward me in the frame.

A little pop of purple with the grey & Yellow.
I'm searching for cute throw pillows, until then
a blanket will have to do!

We moved our room around! (Not very exciting)

I am sure you have seen this on Pinterest...folding your clothes like this. Let me tell you first hand, it is a lifesaver! Such a smart idea. Now I don't have to dig around my shirt drawer like a madwoman..I can just look! (Yeah yeah...I have way too many clothes! I know!)

For halloween this year, we didnt have any plans until last minute, so this is what we threw together! Spiderman and Gwen Stacy. I hope Albert Health Services doesn't mind the slight alteration to my name badge!

Thanks for reading! (Sorry for the poor quality of pictures...most of these are taken with my Iphone!!)

Latest Creations

I like to make things...a lot. Here are some of my latest creations:

*We had some friends move away, so I made this sign:

Just ignore the horrible picture, it was in the
process of drying!

*I made this cork board for my sister-in-law who just moved out of home:

*I made this garbage can for the car:

I literally have zero sewing skills, so I am quite impressed with this. You can find the
tutorial HERE.

*I made this delicious meal:

This was super yummy! Just make sure your chicken is mostly cooked/cooked before you begin. You can find the recipe
HERE.

My husband and I also did a little rearranging of our apartment!
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Just cleaned up a little bit!
Oh look! We have acquired another
couch that matches our current
 couch & chair!(But you probably
don't want to know where
we "got" it.)

That's about it! Thanks for reading!
