An Excellent Saturday in The Hat

Here is the problem...
Travis and I live in Medicine Hat, but we have a hard time staying here on weekends. We would rather drive that short drive to Barnwell to play with our adorable niece and nephew and visit with Travis's family. We also drive just a teensy bit further to Lethbridge where my family and all of our friends are! (Plus we know a place to go see free movies!!)
We would love to head out every weekend, but the problem is...
I am the ward organist at church.
(Even though I can hardly play most days!!)
We try to go to our ward here in Medicine Hat as much as we can, but we are usually there only twice a month! (I feel SO bad sometimes!)
The other issues are:
-we don't have too many people we can spend time with (Most young married couples we know have small children which keep them pretty occupied)
-we can only do so much in our small apartment before we go insane
- and...well...its Medicine Hat.

Weekends that we actually DO stay in town are usually pretty boring, but we had a most excellent Saturday!
Travis started the morning by making us pancakes, then we decided to head out and find something fun.
I had overheard a lady at work talking about a Windmill greenhouse with a petting zoo and butterfly enclosure, so we decided to check it out...we had so much fun!!
Now, I have no affiliation with plants of any kind, but walking among the HUNDREDS of gorgeous flowers,  I was suddenly inspired to have a beautiful garden! (Oh wait...that won't work in an apartment!)
I think this was my first time walking around in a greenhouse, and I had so much fun! Everything was so fresh and beautiful, it was very refreshing on a cloudy morning!
There were beautiful birds in cages, lots of beautiful fountains and then we saw a sign...Butterfly House.
YAY! It was $7.50 each for adults to get in, which I was a little hesitant to pay at first (Actually the cashier let Travis and I in for the price of students..Bonus!!) Then she stamped us in and told us the rules...blah blah blah...
We walked in and right away our jackets came off and my glasses fogged up, it was SO hot and humid! But so very beautiful! There were amazing butterflies flying around everywhere! There was even a fish pond with massive fish in and...Turtles!! We probably looked ridiculous. We were SO overly excited about everything we saw, I felt like I was in the Secret Garden! We were way more excited than all the little kids in there...combined!! Here are some pictures I snapped with my phone, I wish I brought my camera!!

I love garden fountains!

You can just see the humidity...

Turtles!!

Some ducks my husband scared!

Pretty!

This is adorable!

Pestering the animals as usual.
At the end of our little adventure, my husband told me to pick out a plant to buy...let me tell you, this process took longer than it should have. I am way too picky, and every time I would pick something out, I would put it down in fear I would kill it. so here is my $2 plant and the dollar store pot we bought and then painted together! Hopefully it will last more than a day.

In other exciting news (if you haven't realized by now, we are easily impressed.) We moved our bedroom around! I can't wait for the day where we can have a normal-sized bedroom, I feel so claustrophobic sometimes!!

BEFORE:
Our curtains look so ugly! Good times.

AFTER:
Things feel at least a little more normal-sized this way.

Since I feel so claustrophobic in our tiny bedroom, I'm always afraid to hang anything on the walls, so here is our only decor in our bedroom. It literally took me 2 minutes to make and it cost me $4.

Oh how I will cherish the non-apartment days!!!
