July/August/September 2015

July, August & September were busy for us & flew by! This post will mostly be pictures because I have a terrible memory. Here are some of the highlights:

My Brother, Clarke returned from his mission.
Ruby is slowly warming up to him.
A few super cute projects I made for a friend's wedding.
Yes, I glued every pearl on that wreath.
Yes, I glued every crystal on LOVE.
They turned out great!

Random projects.
I learned how to cross-stitch. I really enjoy it.

Travis's little sister Cassidy got married this summer. It was so fun to help her with decorating! (an excuse for me to craft) She had a reception in Barnwell, and then was married in the Edmonton temple the following week with another reception.

Barnwell Reception.
That cake was used for my wedding! (It's Styrofoam!!)

Barnwell Reception. She had a popcorn bar!
I literally ate my body weight in kettle corn.

Edmonton Reception. Don't have two receptions. It is a lot of work!!
Married! Literally the longest day ever. It was cold and all the kids were cranky!
Weddings, an awesome wedding cake, visiting with my bestie
and burning my arm with boiling water (OW!!)

Ruby being adorable.
Selfie with Ruby, getting a FREE Selfie stick,
a family hockey game (we lasted 20 minutes) and posing!
The library and the Calgary Zoo!
This is just a brief look at the last couple months. They have been busy & fun! Until next time!

House

This is a long overdue post. We bought & moved into the basement suite of this house in February and two months later moved upstairs.

I've been putting off taking pictures because:

1. Furniture needed to be built
2. pictures needed to be hung
3. the house needed to be clean
4. I wanted new family pictures to hang up
5. I needed time & motivation to do all of these things

Plus it is hard to be motivated to write a blog post when:

1. I work 3 days every week
2. I have a VERY active almost 20 month old who keeps me very busy!! (yikes! How did that happen)
3. I have groceries to buy, meals to make, cleaning to do
4. Netflix is my good friend
5. I like to try and craft & get the occasional work out in.
6. I like to spend time with my husband & daughter everyday!

Basically blogging is at the very bottom of the totem pole. But that is something I would like to be better at! It is a fun way of journal writing for me.

With the exception of our disaster of an office, here it is:

Bathroom

Bedroom-Travis built the headboard & nightstands. Need to hang more pictures or put up a quote!

Kitchen

Kitchen-Travis built the kitchen table
Living room

These ugly slats used to exist. What a terrible idea.
Living room & play area

Living room

Ruby's room
These pictures aren't the greatest (shot on the iphone 4s lol) There are still some things we would like to do in the house, but it is coming along! I didn't include pictures of our office because it is the place where we throw things in and shut the door so Ruby can't get to them. It also has 2 desks, a filing cabinet, an elliptical, shelving and boxes in it. You can imagine the chaos.
In the future I will post pictures of our backyard. Travis just ripped out the deck that was rotting has built a new one-and there are still a few things we need to do back there before it is presentable!!

Johnson Cruise 2015

Time to play catch up! I suck at blogging.
The first week of May Me, Travis, Jesse (Travis's younger brother) & his wife Angie went on a cruise to Mexico. It was the first time we left babies at home and fled the country. (We were only gone 5 days) We stopped in the Catalina islands and Ensenada. We flew from Kalispell Montana to Salt Lake City and ended up in LA. I have a terrible memory so I will try and remember as many fun things as I can. Mostly I remember staying up late every night (Mostly by choice...except for a midnight swim and all night drive...haha), laughing, eating too much and having so much fun with Jesse and Angie! Can't wait for the next trip! The only thing I would have changed was the weather!

About to board the ship!
Waterslides on the boat.
It was too cold to use them.

Birthday Cake

Frosted Flake crusted french toast

Ice cream (multiple times) everyday

Posing. it was FREEZING

Trying our luck

Being a fake VIP

There was a mix up with our dining arrangements so we ended up being put at a table with 3 other couples. All three of the couple happen to be LDS from Utah. Plus two of them were EMT's (along with Travis). Two of the couples knew each other and just happened to be on the same trip. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES!? They were all hilarious and we had so much fun every night. One couple was on their honeymoon so they were constantly harassed by us and the waiters. The other couples were celebrating anniversaries. I wish we would have exchanged info so we could have kept in touch!

Comedy club every night!

Too many pictures!

Heading into port

At a show
I am a huge wimp. Super scared of heights and all semi-dangerous situations. So we went ziplining in Mexico! I knew Travis would love to do something like this, so I sucked it up and decided to go. I still can't believe I did every zipline and crossed every rickety bridge of death! (I only cursed at Travis a handful of times) I'm so glad we decided to do this!

I'm crying on the inside

The best part about this bridge was
having to unclip your harness in the
middle in order to continue to the end.

I'm sure I was swearing at Travis

WEE!
Looks fun and safe...right??!

So much hiking!

The blowhole

Do we have to go home?!
Our trip was so fun! (plus it was a great deal!) Between work, school, kids and callings it is so hard to find time to get away. I am grateful my parents were able to watch Ruby while we were gone. In fact, Ruby didn't even care when we came home and got angry when we tried to take her home. Needless to say, she likes Grandmas house better than us.

Spring is in the air!

Her face kills me.

As per usual it has been a while since I've posted an update on things. I'll do my best trying to remember what has happened over the past couple months...

Ruby turned ONE!!
How did this happen? this has been the fastest year ever!!
Ruby is SO busy. She never stops running and getting into absolutely everything.
She climbs up & down stairs like a pro. (most of the time)
She only uses a bottle on the rare occasion.
She has 13 teeth.
She can say: mama, dada, cracker, popcorn, car, dog.
Knows what a sheep, bear (both growl...?) and a wolf say.
She will eat anything if she can eat it with a fork.
She could watch Frozen ALL DAY.
She likes to try and do the actions to the "itsy bitsy spider"
She usually sleeps from 8:40pm-7:30am with one 1-2 hour nap. (and another short one if she is cranky)
She didn't even flinch when she got her 12 month shots.
She loves to go outside, play with family and swim.
Loves to play peek-a-boo (by covering her eyes...so cute!)

Her grin!!

This was on her birthday!
Fun @ Daycare

Swimming with Grandma!

One day she was pushing a garbage can along the floor and it slid out from under her a she smashed her face on the ground. I didn't think too much of it because she falls often. I saw some blood in her mouth...again I didn't think too much of it because she has bitten her lip before when she has fallen. This time was different because she coughed and blood went all over my face. yum. I figured I should probably take her to the hospital upon further investigation and seeing a large cut and a piece of skin stuck between her two front teeth. When I got to the ER the triage nurse was really rude. I wasn't panicked or anything, I just wanted to be sure she didn't need a stitch or something. Anyways...3 hours later we saw a Doctor. (After everyone in the waiting room went before us...twice.) The doctor told me he had never seen anything like this before and tried to yank this skin out between her teeth. I don't cringe at much...but yikes. This Dr. was YANKING at this little piece of skin. He told me he would call the Pediatrician. That was taking too long so he told us to go home and the Pediatrician would call. Late that evening I called the ER to touch base because I hadn't heard anything yet. The nurse on the phone was rude again claiming a Dr. would never call me from the ER. Ok...whatever. two minutes later the original Dr. called me and recommended seeing a dentist. Good thing I work for an Oral Surgeon!

My boss looked at her mouth the next day and said it was nothing to worry about and that the wedged piece of skin would fall off in a few days. What a gongshow. She is fine. What a trooper!

We bought a house! Hooray! It is a suited house and a single lady was living upstairs when we got the house, so we moved into the basement suite...on the day of Ruby's first birthday party. Dumb idea. It was such a cute little suite and all was good! Until the tenant upstairs gave her notice a week after we moved in. BOO. (She claimed it wasn't personal...sure sure)
We advertised both suites to rent but had significantly more interest in the basement suite...so we moved upstairs! I love moving....NOT
I feel like I didn't even get things settled in the basement, so I don't even have any great pictures. The upstairs is still a work in progress...but it is fun trying to make it a home! Maybe one day when it is all organized I'll post more pictures.

Upstairs

I'm so happy with how this turned out!

Travis is still looking for an EMT job and working construction in the mean time. I work 2-3 days a week at the dental surgery clinic. Between work, Ruby and house things we are so busy!! Over Easter we were able to sneak away to the Calgary Zoo and then up to Edmonton to visit Travis's sisters. We had so much fun!
Travis and I are SO excited to head to Mexico on a cruise in a few weeks!! (Ruby is staying with Grandma while we are gone)

I feel like there isn't much else to update you on! Here are some more pictures:
