Wouldn't that be funny??

It has been a long time since I have blogged, and I have a million things I could update you all with...but I just want to share two experiences I had this past weekend.

Travis and I were in Lethbridge for the weekend (my family was away in Utah getting things for Clarke's mission...which is coming up way too fast!!) so we were able to spend lots of time with some friends and Travis's side of the family. Saturday night we were invited to a wedding out in Raymond...so off we went. When we were pulling into the church in Raymond, I turned to Travis and said:

"Wouldn't it be funny if you went to the wrong wedding? I mean...so many LDS couples get married every weekend during the summer, I wonder if that ever happens??"

He probably said something to the effect of how ridiculous that was....and we continued inside.

Then I jokingly said:

"You go into the reception first, make sure it's the right place HAHA"

Again, he just laughed it off and walked into the gym...and turned right around and said:

"This is the wrong wedding....hurry and get out of here!"

What are the chances?? I really hope no one saw us...I was laughing so hard and trying to quickly get back to the car in my heels. Eventually we made it to the right reception just right around the corner!

Then when we were travelling back to Medicine Hat on Sunday morning, we were a little worried, because I had seen a lot warnings about the flood going that direction...and after seeing the devastation in High River and Calgary, I was worried how hard Medicine Hat would get hit because most of the rivers in southern AB all merge into the South Saskatchewan.

I knew from Facebook posts from friends that the Medicine Hat Stake gathered on Saturday to put together 20000 sandbags in preparation for the impending flood waters. (Obviously I was so sad to be missing out on all of that hard labour! Hah!)
Also, I had been joking all weekend how I hoped church was cancelled because I had agreed at the last minute to play the organ in sacrament and all the songs that were already chosen were harder songs that I was not comfortable playing AND I had to teach YW's. (which I was looking forward to!)
Travis and I showed up to church a half hour early so I could get some organ practising in, and he started to prepare the sacrament. A few minutes later this lady walked through the chapel and said:

"Isn't church for the rest of the day cancelled? We are supposed to go help with flood preparations!"

Obviously we didn't get the phone call.
So we rushed home, changed our clothes and went and joined a few hundred volunteers filling sand bags on a Sunday afternoon. I was amazed that so many people, who respectfully choose to keep Sunday a holy day were so willing to go and do hard labour on a Sunday under the direction of the stake president.
I spent a solid 5 hours tying, shovelling and hauling sand bags to fill pallets upon pallets of sand bags. I was just thrilled to be getting a tan! (Which i unfortunately found out was just dirt when I showered later that day.)Travis was called out from the crowd (I think they just looked for the people with the biggest biceps...I was pretty offended...just kidding, I am weak!) to go help place the sandbags alongside the 300+ members of the Army who were deployed to Medicine Hat to help with flood preparations.
I am so grateful I was able to contribute in some way with flood preparation. (Even though I was so stiff the next day I could hardly walk and my hands are still blistered!) I think because of all the preparation and volunteers, Medicine Hat didn't get hit as hard as it probably could have.
I am also grateful I live on the top of a coulee...
