Whoops! Forgot about these!

Here are some things I made a long time ago...just forgot to post them!!
Made these for some good friends who got married!

Bought a cheap frame, painted it, printed off a pic of the temple, put it behind
tracing paper and then put their last name on!

Then added some fabric flowers. I thought it was a cute idea...
The newlyweds probably just thought it was weird!

Made this for my new little niece! I made another one
for my new nephew...but I didn't take a picture! Good thing...
because I got the date wrong! How horrible is that!?

These are the cards I made for the new babies! They are so crazy!
Thanks to my grandma who helped me!

Anyways! Sorry for the boring post/old stuff!!

Great finds!

Recently I have discovered Pinterest. SO dangerous. I have been spending a lot of time on there, passing time and wanting everything I see! It does have a plus side though! There are lots of DIY craft ideas which are totally doable and there are tons of delicious recipes easily accessible. I love it and I'm hooked.

Since I still haven't started my job out here in Medicine Hat, I am SO bored some days. So the other day I decided to just go exploring, and hopefully find an awesome thrift store! The only thing I could find was Value Village, kind of a bummer. I didn't even find anything awesome there. Luckily I found a liquidation world though! I found a super cute key holder for $2. The only thing was that the paint was gleaming white. So I used a little baking soda and vinegar and a spoon to make it look a little worn and beaten. Good find? I think so! At least now we will stop losing our keys. (hopefully)

Whoops...forgot to take a before pic!

Then I went to dollarama (I do not believe in dollar giant) and decided I was going to actually make something I saw on Pinterest.

Bought the coolest frame I could find at the $ store.
Travis was pretty confused why I had bought
3 framed crosses...
Removed the crosses, added some cork board, slapped on some paint...

Added some tacks and BAM!
Organized necklaces!
(Notice the heart of the ocean in the middle!!)
Even though I don't have 100000 necklaces, it is SO nice not to have them sitting in a box all tangled up! I think this will do just great...and did I mention it cost me less than $3?

Some recent excitement!

Since we have moved to Medicine Hat, we have been bored, especially me. Travis goes off to school and I sit at home all day. (For the record, I did get hired at the Medicine Hat Hospital, I just haven't started yet because people have been away, and then sick...blah blah blah.)

Anyways...being newly married and trying to save money, there is only so much we can do without blowing our budget. The biggest bummer of all? For the first time in my life I'll actually have to PAY to go see a movie. This is all very weird to me...and I haven't brought myself to do it yet. I miss the Movie Mill!

We also don't have any cable or sattelite...so that is also something that we cannot occupy our time with. Luckily I have discovered I can watch all my shows, in good quality online with sites such as Global, CityTV and CTV. The thing with these sites, is I have to wait until the next day, but I think I can be ok with that!
For those of you who know me, you know I love playing piano! Well...I don't even remember the last time I played! The only thing I could play on is this mini roll up piano I got for my birthday! Unfortunately I cant really do a whole lot with it though!

So little! It has some pretty sick sound effects though!
I have also tried to get into the habit of reading a lot, something which I have not done a lot of. I am SO not a big reader, but I am trying because I would like to be. I have been trying to read "The Host" for like a year now, I'm not even half way! I can't stop reading Jack Weyland books. SO cheesy and predictable, but every time, even know if I know exactly what is going to happen, I am weeping by the end. (This is the guy who wrote Charly). And Then I am starting to read "Perfume, the story of a murderer" SO creepy!!

There is nothing better then Jack Weyland cover art.
What is something you do when you are bored? Play Board games or cards! And seeing as I hate playing most card games (and I don't think we have any...) We turn to our board game collection! Thrilling!

This is our board game collection!
Lucky for us we can appreciate art in our own apartment. Our landlord once told us that the reason this place is so nice, is because the pictures on the wall. This may have been the case a long time ago...

This is the picture right outside our door. I think it was made
using pencil crayons.
This is right down our hallway, so nice haha
If you haven't noticed, I blog way too much in my opinion. Why? Well...because there isn't a whole lot else to do! I am sorry!!

This is the first time in my life I have not had A/C. I am dying. Today it was 34 at one point. It is almost 10pm and it is still 23. This is crazy. All we have is a little fan! We drink A LOT of ice cold water! Or else we would probably be dead.
This is our "Why is it SO flipping hot" face.
I said to make a melting face...and we both just ended up looking
insane. This is what happens when its too hot kids.

We did find one exciting thing to do here, and it is relatively inexpensive...The Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center! Woooo! So fun! But actually its great! There is a wave pool, steam room, waterslide, diving boards, swinging rope, lane pool, kiddy pool, ice rink, gym and...a lazy river!!! So great!
Admiring some art before we go swimming.

So excited to swim! More excited its something to do!!

Look how magic this place looks!
Did I mention the waterslide is a SNAKE!!!
Seriously this place is so fun! I wish we had
something like this in lethbridge!!

Well that's about it for now...and that's about all the excitement happening in Medicine Hat with us! Hopefully we can meet some other young married couples...apparently there are not very many around!!

Why did I turn on the oven!

I just learned a very valuable lesson. If it is 34 degrees out, and your apartment has no air conditioning...do not turn on the oven or cook bacon. Unless you like melting to death!

Other than melting, I decided to try and cook something that was deeelicious, and it actually turned out! Here is what I did to make delicious twice baked cheesy, bacon, peppers, onion potatoes. (Ok, the name sucks I know)

First, I washed and scrubbed a few potatoes (Since there is only 2 of us, I used 4 potatoes so we could have leftovers!)
Then I placed them on tinfoil, stabbed the potato a few times and put just a pinch of salt and a DROP of oil in with the potato and wrapped it up. I then baked them @ 350 for just over an hour.

Once they were baked, I opened them up and sliced them in half, and tried to remove as much of the insides as I could, placing the skins on a baking sheet. With the innards of the potato I made mashed potatoes (added milk and butter accordingly) and put the mashed potatoes in the skins of the baked potatoes.

I then proceeded to (with the help of my husband) fry up some bacon, onions and yellow peppers. Once they were all cooked, I shoved the peppers and onions into the mashed potatoes and put a piece of bacon on top, then covered the top with cheese and baked for another 5-10 minutes.

If you are paying attention, you'll notice there should be one more half
but I threw it in with the mashed potato mix because I didn't
think there would be enough!!

They actually turned out super good, and were delicious with ranch dip! (but come to think of it...a lot of things are delicious with ranch dip!)

Here comes trouble!

This past weekend I was in Lethbridge, and I finally broke down and bought a glue gun.
It was a whole $2.50. I know, I know...big spender!
Can you even comprehend what this means?
How will I ever get anything useful done again!
Just kidding, but I did manage to make a necklace which I think is super cute!

I'll keep you updated if there is anything more!
Just a short, uneventful post! Sorry!

Our new Apartment!

Our new bathroom is bigger than our old one!
And i love our super cute new shower curtain!
And i love having a bigger shower!!

Ugly counter tops and not a lot of storage!!

Thank goodness we have a storage room in our
place!

This is what you see when you first walk into our place.

This is our tiny little kitchen!  (notice the oven drawer will NOT
close no matter what we do!!)

Another view of our kitchen , such ugly counters...

This is our baby oven. Normal cookie sheets
do not fit!! :(
I had to buy new baby ones!! What the heck!

We decided our other table would be too big! So sad! Luckily
the Johnson's were willing to make a table trade. Oh, and those
hideous curtains came with the place. Lucky us!

This is our living room/office. Have you noticed what my
favorite pattern is yet?

Our "office" corner!

This is my craft area and our fish tank! Yes, ALL of our fish
made the journey alive! Poor fishies were probably scared
to death...

We love pictures! And letters! Send us some and
you can be added to the bunch!

Our bedroom is way bigger than our old one! Which is really nice.
It gets SO hot at night, so we had to get a little fan. I have
been spoiled with AC my whole life! Now I'm dying!!

A view of our tv area...we still need to hang so many things up so it
doesn't feel so much like a weird place. Can you tell what I'm
watching???

So that's about it...we are just a little below ground level in our apartment, and we are on a corner, which is nice, so that means we only have one neighbor. We never hear anyone...unless our windows are open at night when people decided to go outside and have a smoke! There also isn't a huge dog barking at us every time we go in or out! I think we did pretty good...considering we only had a few hours to find a place and this was the only place that didn't smell of cat pee and weed. We are also fairly close to everything, and the college is just down the street so Travis is able to walk/ride his bike everyday. There are some things that need to get fixed...like our oven drawer, or the fact you have to open the tank of the toilet and jiggle things around or the toilet will run alllll night, or the fact that our fridge makes the sound of a gurgling stomach....
Things could have been a lot worse.

Another thing...
You know how you always see the box in apartments that is like a speaker/intercom thing that can open the front door to let people in? Anyways, I was SO excited to use it! I have always wanted to use it! But...let me tell you.
I have never heard a worse sound in my life.
People can use that as a "doorbell", and when they do, it sounds like someone stepping on a goose giving birth to an elephant. It is the WORST sound ever. Travis didn't believe me, and so when he did finally hear it...
yikes.
I hope people don't ring it often! I cringe at the thought of it going off!
The first time I heard it, Travis had run outside to take the garbage to the dumpster, so I was alone, and I seriously jumped out of my skin.
Horrified.
So I guess this will do for now...at least we aren't homeless!!
